The Lowdown on K Beauty

You would have to have been hiding under a rock to have missed the massive trend that is Korean Beauty. In fact, most beauty brands are looking east to Asian Beauty for inspiration, in particular Korean (although Japan is tipped to be the hot beauty influence of 2018).

Waterless Beauty

Whilst waterless beauty products have existed for years, Asian Beauty has made a huge trend out of them. Think beauty balms, such as Antipodes Saviour Skin Balm and cleansing oils, such as Avalon Organics Wrinkle Therapy Cleansing Oil, not a drop of water in sight. As our world's water resources become scarcer, will waterless beauty become even more important to us as a civilisation?

BB and CC Creams

We think of BB and CC creams as a relatively new product, however Korean women have been using BB creams for over thirty years! The difference between BB and CC creams is subtle, and products vary massively between brands. BB usually stands for blemish balm or beauty balm, and CC stands for colour correcting. Both products are for addressing issues such as redness, dullness and blemishes. From our firsthand experience of Pacifica Alight BB Cream and Ultra CC Cream, we find the BB Cream is lighter, with pink undertones, more like a sheer moisturising tint than a foundation. The CC Cream, on the other hand, is more like a foundation in texture and coverage, with SPF17 as an added bonus!
