How To Get Perfect Summer Feet

By Samantha H.

Put your best foot forward with our guide to keeping your toes and nails in shape as sandal season approaches.

While our toes may have been warmly tucked away in boots over winter, as the weather heats up and flip flops return, our feet are now more on show than ever. To make sure yours are in the best shape they can be, treat them to an at-home spa experience. First addressing any nail issues and then scrubbing (and moisturising) your way to beautifully soft, glowing skin. Follow our guide below to get started…

Nails and Cuticles

Healthy nails start from within so it’s important to ensure you have a rich and varied diet of nutritious foods as this can contribute to your overall nail health. To supplement this, the NeoCell Super Collagen is a great addition as it helps to boost our internal collagen levels which support healthy bones, joints and nails.

Whether you prefer to keep your toenails totally natural or like to pretty them up with polish, it’s important to ensure they are healthy and clean all year round. Made from a tough protective protein called alpha-keratin (which is the same substance your body uses to create hair), toenails that are not looked after can become ingrown or suffer from a fungal infection, which can lead to discoloration and in some cases, can even be painful.

To treat your nails, first soak them in warm water. This will soften the skin that lies over the nail (the cuticle), making it easier to trim. Take a bowl and add a small amount of Epsom salts and then fill it with water. Letting your feet rest in the mixture for a minimum of 20 mins. Once trimmed, add a small amount of the JASON Organic Vitamin E Oil 45,000 IU to each nail to help nourish the skin and promote healthy growth.

Polished and Moisturised

Now that your nails are in shape, focus on softening the skin on your feet. Especially on our heel area, the skin can become hardened over time due to improper shoes or extended walking. To treat this, use a scrub that buffs away the buildup of dead skin cells, helping to nourish dry or cracked skin and reveal the smoother texture underneath.

Made with natural ingredients, try adding the Alba Botanica Body In The Buff Grapefruit & Walnut Shell Scrub to your daily shower routine for an exfoliating treat. Used directly on the feet, massage it into the skin in circles, focusing directly on any rough texture. As you buff the skin, it lathers and moisturizes to leave you with a silky-soft feel.

To create your own DIY scrub at home, combine one third of a cup of brown sugar with two thirds of a cup of Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and add in 4-5 drops of your favourite essential oil to scent the mixture. This all-natural blend will gently slough away rough skin while hydrating it to leave you with beautifully smooth and fragranced feet.

Our Top Tips For Healthy Feet

  • On hotter days, stick to natural fabrics like cotton that let your feet breathe to avoid sweaty toes
  • Avoid high heels and pointed-toe shoes for extended periods of time as these can cause bunions and blisters
  • Moisturise your feet before going to bed with the JASON Cocoa Butter Hand & Body Lotion to help lock in hydration and soothe any dry skin
  • Trim nails or cuticles after you’ve had a shower as the nail bed will be softer and easier to cut
  • Place a few drops of your preferred essential oil onto a piece of fabric and place this in shoes between wears to help add a fresh scent
